The Talking Farm needs YOU…

You can be among the first members of the community to help grow The Talking Farm - the initiative that will reconnect the Evanston community with a fresh organic food alternative; support a sustainable local economy and healthy food system and help to shape Evanston’s food and environmental future!

From its inception, The Talking Farm has attracted and united a committed group of volunteers with exceptional and diverse experience and expertise, including agriculture, urban farming, architecture, engineering, public administration, philanthropy, education, community outreach, finance/business, legal and regulatory compliance.

We need to continue to grow a strong network of volunteers, both now and when we are in full operation. The volunteer and internship opportunities at The Talking Farm are almost too numerous to list. There is a role for nearly every individual’s interest, availability and level of expertise, including:

   1. Farm production and harvesting;
   2. Horticulture and demonstration gardening;
   3. Teaching classes and seminars (both on site and in the community, such as going into District 65 and 202 schools to education youth about food, farming and nutrition; going into churches and community centers to talk about meal planning with local, organic produce and other food products);
   4. Site development and planning;
   5. Construction/site preparation;
   6. Research on horticulture, food systems, community development, education;
