Food Preservation 101: Basic Freezing Techniques and Applications -- June 2010 What a wonderful way to preserve the local bounty. Toni Camphouse showed us how to freeze veggies such as spinach and corn. She also taught us how to make freezer jam, such a simple process. I tried it with sour cherries from the farmers' market and wow...it was so easy and tasted so good. Did you know you could freeze tomatoes whole? You couldn't use them for a salad, but try it and have make fresh tomato sauces all year, or add them to your soups in the cold of winter. Here are some pictures from our June 15th class at the Skokie Public Library. Stay tuned as we hope to offer more classes this summer.
