The Talking Farm’s Farm Dinner with Boltwood is on September 10, 2017! Tickets on Sale Now!

Last year, we started a tradition by holding the first annual farm dinner at the Howard Street Farm. This year, we’re continuing the tradition by partnering with Chef Brian Huston of Boltwood restaurant in Evanston to give you an experience you won’t soon forget.

We will gather right on the farm to share a meal among the rows and hoop houses at the Howard Street Farm. We will begin with champagne and hors d’oeuvres, then sit down for a family-style, four-course meal, and wrap up by a bonfire with spirits, cordials and s’mores. Farmers Matt and Susanna will show you around the farm as Chef Huston prepares a meal on the farm that features the produce grown steps from your table. A real farm-to-table experience.

Ticket includes four-course family-style dinner, wine, champagne, beverages, and dessert. Proceeds from the dinner benefit The Talking Farm, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation and The Talking Farm’s ambitious Expansion Project with the University of Illinois. The University of Illinois is assisting TTF in grading additional land on the Howard Street Farm for grow fields and establishing a water conservation system that collects excess rain runoff to feed the farm. Your ticket price funds this project and helps us continue our mission to sustainably grow produce and provide more hands-on educational opportunities. Ticket prices are tax-deductible to the extent allowed under the law.

About Boltwood: Chef Brian Huston is a 2015 James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Chef: Great Lakes. His first break came after Paul Kahan hired Brian to cook at Blackbird soon after it opened but before it became the symbol of modern American cuisine in Chicago and the start of the West Loop dining scene. A stop at Avec preceded trips to other places, Colorado, San Francisco, Europe – where Brian continued to keep the best of the old and fold in the best of the new, establishing his own creative style of cuisine the was a melting pot of ingredients, flavors, and techniques. After 6 years away, Kahan brought him back to serve as Chef de Cuisine of The Publican, and Huston helped define Farm-to-Table cooking in the Midwest. But as important, it brought him back towards his long term goal – opening a restaurant in Evanston that allows him to serve family and friends (both old and new) with creative fresh sourced food and warm hospitality.
