We are excited to announce the return of The Singing Farm Summer Concert Series at the Howard Street Farm! Grab a few friends, set up your blanket and chairs, bring all your best picnic gear, and enjoy a freshly prepared dinner by Big Jones, while listening to live music all in the open air. The series is generously sponsored by Sketchbook Brewing Co, and the first concert kicks off May 23 with music by Jon Langford.
Each ticket provides admission for up to 4 people and guarantees your group a picnic spot on the lawn. This year, in accordance with the CDC guidelines, we are allowing up to five (5) separate groups of four to sit together and intermingle within their groups as long as all persons in the group are fully vaccinated (excepting those under 16).
Big Jones put together an amazing menu that features Catalpa Grove Farm barbecued pork, salads, and slaw with produce grown on the farm steps from your picnic site, buttermilk rolls, and ends with carrot cake and cream cheese frosting. The dinner is prepackaged and provides enough food to satiate four people and two people generously. We ask that guests bring their own plates, glasses, and utensils to minimize waste and cross-contamination. There will be optional add-on tickets for wine and Sketchbook beer.
Then sit back and enjoy the music as Jon Langford takes stage! A Welsh native and Chicago legend, Jon is a formidable singer, songwriter, artist, and activist. He is a founding member of The Mekons, Waco Brothers, and Three Johns, and is renowned for fusing country and folk music into punk rock. He will be performing with his longtime partner John Szymanski.
Proceeds from ticket sales support The Talking Farm, an IL 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, and ticket sales are tax-deductible to the extent allowed under the law.
