Allison Phillips

Staff Farmer

Allison’s path to growing food has been nonlinear. She spent multiple summers conducting soil and forest fire research as part of her degree in forest ecology at the University of Washington. After graduating and moving back to the Chicagoland area where they grew up, Allison was drawn to the idea of growing food mostly because it seemed like a useful skill to have in the face of a changing climate. They worked at an organic vegetable gardening company for two seasons and transitioned to the Talking Farm in hopes of learning what growing food was like on a small-scale production site.

Outside of work Allison enjoys riding her bike, studying maps, making art, and goofing around outside with friends.
